Holding various roles, Tobias Berger was involved in the incubation of six different art institution over the last 20 years. On Saturday he will talk about the tasks of establishing and running Tai Kwun Contemporary, a contemporary art space in Central Hong Kong. Taking the opportunity of Tai Kwun’s annual Art Book fair taking place on Saturday, he will also introduce this event and the connected Artists’ Book Library.

Tobias Berger is Head of Art at Tai Kwun, leading Tai Kwun Contemporary, the contemporary art program of the Art and Heritage revitalization development in the former Police Station complex in Hong Kong. After graduating in art history and economics from the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, Tobias Berger worked as a Curator at the Museum Fridericianum in Kassel, Germany. He was the Artistic Director of the 8th Baltic Triennial of International Art in Vilnius, Lithuania and the Director of ARTSPACE NZ in Auckland, New Zealand. From 2005 to 2008, he was the Executive Director of Para Site Art Space in Hong Kong. From 2008 to 2010, Berger served as the Chief Curator at the Nam June Paik Art Center in Seoul, South Korea, and from 2010 to 2015 he was Curator of Visual Arts at the M+ Museum in Hong Kong.
