Curating Digital Spaces

The workshop will explore what makes digital spaces so special and how this impacts curatorial practices. We’ll examine the specific characteristics of the digital realm, the technological advancements shaping curation, and the possibilities and limitations of curating in digital environments. Participants will engage with different digital curatorial formats, study various case studies, and brainstorm to develop their own ideas for future digital projects.
Anna Konstantinova is a Zurich-based curator specializing in contemporary photography, post-photography, and the curation of digital spaces and art transformations into digital formats. She is the Curator and Operational Director at Lullin + Ferrari Gallery and is responsible for art and architecture projects at the Canton of Zurich. Anna is also part of the team at Screen Walks, a collaborative project by Fotomuseum Winterthur and The Photographers’ Gallery that investigates the evolving role of photographic images in networked and digital spaces. Additionally, she is a member of the pool collective, a self-organized group of artists and creatives in Zurich working in photography, and serves on the committee of near. association, which promotes contemporary Swiss photography and fosters critical discourse in the field.

Preparation for the course:
To ensure a smooth experience, please use a headset (or headphones) and choose a quiet place with a stable internet connection. You will receive access to the required reading materials after booking the course; please review them in advance.
Procedure
This intensive, two-part live course will be conducted via Zoom on two consecutive Saturdays from 2:00 to 6:00 PM CEST. Please prepare a brief introduction of yourself and your projects (3-5 minutes). The first session will focus on an in-depth introduction to the topic and workshop research. Assignments for the second session will be provided at the end of the first session. In the second session, you will receive feedback and evaluations. Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a certificate worth 1 ECTS credit.
