The Long March
„The long march through the institutions“ (Der lange Marsch durch die Institutionen) refers to a strategy envisioned by the german protest movement of the 1960s which was meant to change institutional conditions from within.
When Stella Rollig was named director of LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz in 2004, she had been a writer focused on institutional critique. How did this frame of reference influence her work as a museum director? She will talk about positioning the LENTOS as one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary art in Austria, and how she plans to bring a critical spirit to the Belvedere, one of the top tourist destinations of Vienna, when she will take directorship there in January 2017.
